What is an MCC?
A stainless steel enclosure or Motor Control Centre (MCC) is a cabinet for electrical or electronic equipment to mount switches, knobs and displays and to prevent electrical shock to equipment users and protect the contents from the environment. The enclosure is the only part of the equipment which is seen by users; in many cases it is designed not only for its utilitarian requirements, but also to be pleasing to the eye. Regulations may dictate the features and performance of enclosures for electrical equipment in hazardous areas, such as petrochemical plants or coal mines.
BS 7671 dictates that all electrical connections, other than those in a protective conductor, but including connections in extra–low voltage circuits, must be contained within an enclosure meeting certain requirements.
HPC will manufacture bespoke enclosures/MCC’s and all of our products are manufactured using 304 and/or 316 stainless steel. For durability, corrosion resistance, tensile and shear strength, stainless steel enclosures are a good choice.  Stainless steel retains its strength at high temperatures, which can be crucial in extreme environments. An additional plus to using stainless steel enclosures is stainless steels long lasting attractive appearance, which can be great for enclosures in highly visible areas.
Stainless steel also has intrinsically hygienic advantages, making it the right choice for enclosures that might be used in clean room environments, in laboratories, and in pharmaceutical or food processing situations. Stainless steel enclosures do not require painting, anodizing or other surface treatments. Stainless steel enclosures are also a perfect choice for harsh and corrosive environments. And while stainless steel is initially more costly than other materials, its low maintenance needs and long life expectancy can make it the most cost-effective over the long run.
HPC’s custom precision metal fabrication capabilities make us particularly well suited to manufacture bespoke stainless steel enclosures/MCC’s that perfectly fit your requirements and are suited to the environment in which they will be used. Just about any size and shape of enclosure is within our capacity to manufacture.
HPC can custom configure your stainless steel enclosure/MCC, in terms of cut out patterns, doors, louvers, dampers, baffles, mounting options, benches, shelves, sub-panels, rails and just about any special requirement you may have, within the following sectors

Sheet steel is presented to the Rainer punches which will have been programmed with customer dimensions, cut outs, etc
Punched steel sheet is taken to brake press and punched shapes are folded into the required 3 dimensional shape
3 dimensional shapes are then welded together to form the electrical control panel/enclosure/MCC in its rough form
The rough fabrication is then finished off. Welds cleaned and polished, surfaces cleaned and polished. Doors hung on hinges, sealing gaskets fitted, clear screens fitted into doors, locks and handles fitted to doors. If panel/enclosure/MCC is made of mild steel it is usually taken to the powder coating booth and sprayed whatever colour the customer has stipulated.
Painted panel/enclosure/MCC is then cured in the oven to bond powder to surface of steel.
